    – Go on a Walk: Walks aren’t just a form of exercise. They have many benefits, including improving your mental and physical health. Walking can improve your mood and make you feel happier.


    – Do Something You Love! Whether it’s reading a book, baking a new recipe or simply rewatching a favourite movie, it’s important to plan time to focus on yourself by doing an activity that makes you happy!


Stress affects multiple facets of our lives, including our happiness, the health of our body, our skin and how we feel about ourselves. It’s important to nurture the person inside us and to never forget to do activities that make us feel good!

5 Tips To Keep Your Skin Healthy While Traveling

Traveling and getting away from life’s daily routine is exciting! Experiencing new adventures, trying new foods and exploring new locations are all part of the fun. 

That being said, these changes can alter our skin care regime which can lead to skin issues, such as dryness, dehydration, irritation, sudden breakouts, etc. 

The good news is that there are ways to keep your skin looking healthy throughout your travels and minimize any possible reactions.
1. Be Consistent. Your skin doesn’t like changes. It’s very important to stick to the same skin care routine, whether you are away or at home. Tip: Choose to purchase small containers to transfer your skin care products to be used on the go.

2. Stay Hydrated. Your skin is an organ. Like other organs, it needs water to ‘work’ properly. Traveling in airplanes, with its dry air, can dehydrate the body, leading to flaky and tight skin. By ensuring that you stay hydrated, you can help prevent dehydration.

3. Exfoliate The Night Before You Leave. Regular exfoliation is essential to keeping your skin healthy by helping to remove dead cells. 

4. Don’t Forget Your Sunscreen! Constant exposure to the Sun can irritate and dehydrate the skin. Wearing sunscreen regularly will protect the skin from its harmful rays and help prevent sunburns. Tip: Always choose a broad-spectrum sunscreen that protects your skin from both UVA and UVB rays.


5. Get A Professional Facial After You Come Back. Following a trip, we tend to go back to our regular routine. Our skin may need extra care to do so. In order to accelerate the process, it is recommended to get a professional deep cleansing and exfoliating facial soon after your return.

Sensitive Skin Dos and Don’ts

Does your skin get red for no reason? Does it react to most-accepted skin care products? Do you get dry, itchy patches in the summer, or breakouts and irritation throughout the year? If you answered ‘yes’ to most or all of these questions, then you probably have sensitive skin.


Don’t Over-Wash

Use a gentle cleanser (without strong fragrances) to wash your face. The key is to find a product that will clean your skin, while keeping its protective oil-barrier intact.

Don’t Over-Exfoliate

Avoid exfoliants that contain beads or micrograins which require a scrubbing or rubbing motion. This could cause the skin’s surface to crack and could lead to redness and irritation. Use an exfoliant that gently breaks up the dead skin cells’ top layer, without having to physically ‘rub’ it off. 


Do Use Lukewarm Water to Wash Your Face

Avoid extreme temperatures when you are using water on your face. Hot water can be too harsh and drying on the skin, while cold water can cause broken capillaries and redness.

Do Protect and Moisturize Your Skin Daily

It is essential to keep the skin well hydrated, while using a moisturizer that will not cause irritation or redness. Look for products that are ‘gentle, hypoallergenic, aroma-free and/or water-based’. (Tip: The best way to find-out if a product is ‘water-based’ is to look at the ingredient list. If the first ingredient is: water, then the product is water-based.)

Do Wear Sunscreen Daily

Everyone should be wearing sunscreen on a regular basis, however, the sun becomes even more harmful for someone with sensitive skin (who needs that extra layer of protection). 

Do Add Antioxidants to Your Skin

Antioxidants are powerful ingredients that help to protect your skin from harmful free radicals (pollution, sunlight…) that are responsible for wrinkles, loss of skin elasticity, uneven skin tone, and more. Look for serums with added-antioxidants.

Do Add a Weekly Face Mask to Your Skin Care Routine

Face masks for sensitive skin are wonderful to help repair and create an extra layer of protection on the skin.


Do Treat Your Skin to a Monthly Facial
A monthly facial specific for sensitive skin will further repair and soothe the skin. It will also help provide extra protection for sensitive skin to minimize chances of irritation.


*As important as it is to follow the dos and don’ts for sensitive skin, it is equally as important to remember that everyone’s skin reacts differently to certain products and ingredients. Always test new products on a patch of skin beforehand and try to constantly keep an eye on any new reaction or irritation.
